Ingredients
  

For the base

  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup sugar

For the spices

  • 5 whole cloves
  • 4 whole allspice
  • 2 sticks cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp ground ginger

For the juices

  • 1 quart apple cider
  • 2 cups orange juice
  • 1 cup lemon juice

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a large pot of at least 4 quarts, stir together the water and sugar, and bring to a boil over medium heat.
  • Once boiling (about 5 minutes), turn off the heat and add cloves, allspice, cinnamon sticks, and ground ginger.
  • Let the mixture sit for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  • If desired, strain out the spices for a smoother drink.
  • Add apple cider, orange juice, and lemon juice to the pot, stir, and bring to a brief boil before reducing the heat to low.
  • Keep warm until serving.

Notes

Can be made a day in advance. Store in the fridge and reheat gently before serving.
