  • 2 cups mashed potatoes Use leftover mashed potatoes for convenience.
  • 1 cup shredded cheese Cheddar or mozzarella is recommended.
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 unit egg Large egg.
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • to taste Salt and pepper

For Frying

  • Oil for frying Oil Use your preferred frying oil.

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, mix together the mashed potatoes, shredded cheese, flour, Parmesan cheese, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until everything is well combined.
  • Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Test the oil with a small bit of the mixture to check if it sizzles.
  • Scoop small amounts of the potato mixture and shape them into balls or puffs.
  • Fry the puffs in the hot oil until golden brown on all sides, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Remove them from the oil and drain on paper towels before serving.

Notes

You can make the mixture ahead of time and refrigerate for 1-2 days before frying. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days. To reheat, pop them in the oven for 5-10 minutes to regain that crispy exterior.
