  • 1/2 cup butter, softened Can be substituted with coconut oil or margarine.
  • 1 cup sugar Can reduce by a quarter cup for less sweetness.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Add for flavor.

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Add-ins

  • 1 cup chocolate chips Key ingredient for the recipe.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese, butter, sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mix, folding until just combined.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips.
  • Drop spoonfuls of dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet.

Baking

  • Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges turn golden brown.
  • Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Cookies can be made ahead and stored in an airtight container. They last about a week at room temperature. For best results, reheat leftover cookies in the microwave for about 10 seconds.
